How to play Calcudoku

Read the aim of Calcudoku, then make your first move. Fill a 4×4 Latin square and satisfy every cage arithmetic target. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Read the objective before making your first input. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Twelve puzzles with addition, multiplication, subtraction and singleton cages.

Keep the aim in sight

Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Fill a 4×4 Latin square and satisfy every cage arithmetic target. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Notice how the game responds to your input.

Step by step

  1. Select a square and enter 1–4.
  2. Combine all cage digits using its shown operation.
  3. Subtraction uses the absolute difference.
  4. Check puzzle verifies the entire grid.

Controls

Click or tap squares or graph edges. Number boards include a digit pad. Undo reverses the previous change; Check puzzle validates the solution. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.

A useful example

A two-cell 6× cage contains 2 and 3 in a 1–4 puzzle. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Read the matching step again.

Watch out for this

A correct cage total does not permit duplicate digits in a row. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
